Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES), a private, non-profit organization founded in 1975, assists over 10,000 individuals annually in eight communities north of Boston. MVES’ service area includes Malden, Everett, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, and Wakefield. The mission of MVES is to support the right of elders and adults living with disabilities to live independently with dignity in a setting of their own choice by providing information, advice, and access to quality services and resources. We act as an entry point through which elders, adults living with disabilities, families, caregivers, and health care professionals can access a wide variety of programs, services, and supports. The main focus of our agency is to promote safe, independent living for the elders and adults living with disabilities in the communities we serve.
We are so thankful to Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc. for donating a pair of Red Sox tickets to be auctioned off at the Malden Chamber of Commerce’s Luck at the Irish fundraiser held on June 19, 2014. The tickets received many bids and raised $275 for MVES’s Elder Independence Fund!!!
MVES’s Elder Independence Fund supports low-income elders who have nowhere else to turn for help. What does the Elder Independence Fund do? When an elder who has no place to turn for essential items such as, fuel oil, dental expenses, adaptive and health equipment, hearing aids, etc. the Elder Independence Fund is where the buck stops. There are no administrative or staffing costs, every penny raised goes into the fund. Imagine it is 4:00 PM on a cold winters night, you need heating oil, have no money to refill your tank and you have used up all your Government stipends and there is no place else to turn. MVES elder independence fund can step in at that moment and review your needs and if you are approved the oil truck will be on its way!!
Thanks to the generosity of Metropolitan Home Health Services, Inc. MVES will be able to say yes to another elder who has a dental need, has run out of oil, or hit any other bump in the road that can cause a low-income older adult independence to be jeopardized. MVES (www.mves.org) and the clients we serve are so happy that you chose to make this gift.
